Do faculty and staff receive a discount on purchases made at Rutgers bookstores under Barnes & Noble management?
Yes. The Rutgers bookstores offer both faculty and staff a 10 percent discount on personal purchases except adopted textbooks, special orders, sale books, class and alumni rings, computer software, periodicals, discounted merchandise, computer hardware, stamps, health and beauty aids, food and snacks, and beverages.

Is there a discount for departmental purchases?
Yes. Barnes & Noble offers a 20 percent discount on all authorized departmental purchases of all merchandise available at the bookstore except adopted textbooks, special orders, sale books, class and alumni rings, computer software, periodicals, discounted merchandise, computer hardware, stamps, health and beauty aids, food and snacks, and beverages.

Can staff make departmental purchases online and still have the discount applied?
No. In order to verify the purchase is made for a department, discounts can only be applied to purchases made in the bookstores. Barnes & Noble hopes to be able to add this functionality in the future.

How can I open a blanket purchase order for departmental purchases with Barnes & Noble College Booksellers?
Barnes & Noble College Booksellers will accept regular, quick, and blanket purchase orders from university departments. Please contact the bookstores directly beginning November 3 for pricing and discount information.

How will I know when to submit book orders?
The bookstore has an active faculty communications program to ensure faculty members know when and how to submit book requests. The program includes faculty information kits, email notifications, quarterly bulletins, and a five-minute instructional video.

How will I submit book requests to the new bookstores?
Book requests can be submitted utilizing one of the following options:
Will the records of what I’ve ordered in previous semesters transfer?
No. Barnes & Noble College Booksellers will retain all records for orders for faculty beginning this spring semester, and those records will be available for view during future book orders.

Do I need to know all the ISBN numbers/titles of books, etc.?
No. An ISBN number is preferred, but if not available, the title of the book will suffice when requesting your book. In instances when an ISBN is not provided, Barnes & Noble will provide faculty with the information on the latest edition of the book(s) they are requesting.

Will textbooks requested on or near November 1 arrive in time for the spring semester?
Yes. Barnes & Noble makes every effort to ensure that textbooks are on the shelves before the first day of class. Barring any publisher or shipping difficulties beyond their control, Barnes & Noble ensures that book requests submitted before December 15 will be available for the start of the spring semester.

Does my old Follet password still work and is it still needed?
No. The Follett password previously issued to faculty will no longer work and is no longer needed. Faculty will register for a new username and password once Barnes & Noble College Bookseller’s website is launched.

What advantages does Barnes & Noble offer faculty?
Barnes & Noble College Booksellers has access to the largest used-book database in the industry and a competitive buyback policy. This will pass on tremendous savings to all customers. A full listing of all faculty benefits will be available on the faculty module.

Will you buy back my previous students' books?
Yes. Barnes & Noble College Booksellers will buy back books from any past semester, regardless of where it was purchased.

Can I still order my I-clicker from Barnes & Noble?
Yes. All items previously ordered through Follett as well as additional items are available through Barnes & Noble.
